Research use only is not a slogan and not a disclaimer to get out of something. It is the category a product falls into, and that category determines what may and may not be done with it.
Three categories
A medicine is intended to prevent or treat a disease and needs a marketing authorization. A dietary supplement is intended for human consumption and falls under food law. A research material is intended for neither: it is raw material for laboratory work.
What a product is isn’t determined by its label but by the purpose it is given. A substance with an RUO label that is offered for human use is, in practice, an unauthorized medicine.
What RUO is and isn’t
RUO means the material is intended for in-vitro research and laboratory use by qualified professionals. It does not mean the material is of lower quality; our analyses exist precisely to record exactly what is in it. It does mean there is no clinical documentation, no dosing is advised and no therapeutic claims are, or may be, attached to it.
Consequences for delivery
Within the EU, which substances can be traded freely as research materials varies by country. Some peptides are listed in one country and not in another. That’s why we only supply adult customers who use the material for research purposes, and we follow the rules of the country of destination.
What we record
At checkout you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the material will be used solely for research and laboratory purposes. That confirmation is stored with the order, with date and time. The same statement appears on every page, every label and every certificate, so there can be no misunderstanding about the intended use.
